Eden Festival has played home to several weddings so this year we are offering couples the chance to be involved in a handfasting ceremony in the tranquillity of the festival. Handfasting is an old tradition and the perfect way to confirm or reaffirm your connection and devotion to yer other half.
Lisa Cooper : UK Celebrant will be offering handfasting ceremonies during the daytime at the festival. A Full Handfasting will include a Handfasting with ribbons or cords and be followed by a cake and ale ceremony, ending in the couple jumping the broom. A simple Handfasting will not include the cake and ale or jumping the broom.
Couples may pre-book directly with Lisa for a Festival Handfasting or book a Handfasting on the day (subject to availability) while at the festival. There is a small equipment charge for each ceremony. To enquire email email@example.com
What is a Handfasting?
Handfasting signifies a couple coming together as ‘One’. Lovers are united as they “Tie the Knot” in the tradition of Celtic Handfasting.
Whatever it’s original intention it has now become a popular new tradition for today’s couples seeking a new way to honour their love
Handfasting can be part of a traditional Wedding Ceremony, following the legal vows and exchange of rings, or at the start of the evening celebrations before the first dance. Alternatively it can be carried out at a later date when family and friends gather to further celebrate your union in marriage. Handfasting can be performed regardless of whether the couple are married or not as a standalone ceremony to demonstrate their commitment to each other and can simply be a symbol of friendship. It does not always need to be for romantic reasons Modern Handfasting can be performed for same-sex or opposite-sex couples. During Handfasting a couple are symbolically bound together to demonstrate their commitment to one another. ... See MoreSee Less
