Chris. Booker, mischief organiser. Without him, there’s no Great Mountain or Rabbie’s Line-up… or half as many good tunes.
What does Eden mean to you?
For me, Eden is all about the community. It’s this incredible mix of creative, talented folks coming together to build something special: a space where we can all let go, celebrate life, and forget the outside world for a while.
What brings you back every year?
There’s just nowhere like Eden. It’s wild, beautiful and full of heart. Every year’s packed with great memories and good people, and it’s something I’m genuinely proud to be part of.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced over the years at Eden?
Honestly the hardest thing has been dealing with how everything’s gotten more expensive, from daily living to putting on a party. You feel it in every detail, but it just makes you more creative about making it work.
Comments Off on Thank you for taking your tent home
Nearly every tent, 98%, left with its owner this year! That’s how we show love: by caring for the land we dance on. Next year, let’s hit 100% with every tent loved, looked after, and taken home to come back year on year.
When we pack away the marquees, and put all the kit back in its boxes we like to give the field back to nature, not a tent peg left behind!
Whether it’s a quick hop from Glasgow or a journey from Prague, Eden has welcomed people from everywhere. This year, we saw people from the USA, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark and Italy, we’re a true global community.
Beyond the music, Eden thrives on creativity. From pottery wheels to paintbrushes, drum circles to sunrise yoga, our workshops are where sparks fly, hands create and connections grow, with many a creative corner to discover.
It’s hard to choose just one, but there’s a special moment every year when you stand on the hill at Raehills Meadows and see thousands of people dancing, smiling, and coming together. That feeling of community and joy, knowing it’s been built from the ground up by volunteers and local passion, is unforgettable.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced over the years at Eden?
The last few years have been especially challenging, with COVID closures, two years of adverse weather, and now rising costs have all put real pressure on independent festivals like ours. But honestly, one of the biggest ongoing challenges has always been making Eden happen with such limited resources, while keeping it independent and free from corporate influence. It’s a huge labour of love.
What brings you back every year?
The people. Our volunteers, our audience, our crew, our artists, it’s a family. Every year people travel from across Scotland and beyond to be part of Eden, and that loyalty and energy is what keeps us going. Seeing familiar faces return and new ones discover the magic for the first time is always inspiring.
What does Eden mean to you?
Eden is about more than just music and arts; it’s about sustainability and giving back to the environment. From the way we run the site to the vendors and suppliers we work with, we try to make choices that are low-impact and locally rooted. For me, Eden means celebrating creativity while also looking after the land we’re on, and giving something positive back to Dumfries & Galloway and the environment as a whole.
Favourite act of all time?
That’s such a hard one to answer because we’ve had so many incredible acts over the years, across so many different stages and genres. But if I had to choose, I’d say Basement Jaxx in 2023. The atmosphere was electric, the whole crowd was bouncing, the energy was incredible, and it felt like one of those moments where everything came together perfectly. It really captured the spirit of Eden at its best.
Last year, so many of you shared your beautiful Eden love stories with us.
