The Site

Eden Festival will will be held at Raehills Meadows, St Anns, Nr moffat, Dumfries and Galloway DG11 1HQ. There is a map on the travel page.

Festival Times

The gates to Eden swing open at 5pm on the Thursday, 2nd September and close again at 5pm on the Monday, 6th September.

The main gate to the festival site will be open until 11pm every night, (although we will keep it open till midnight on the Thursday night). It will open on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8am.

The main body of entertainment, stage listings etc. runs from midday Friday through to Monday morning. We have to clear the main arena at midday on the Monday but camp sites will be open till 5pm to allow festival goers a chance to recover. We will then be starting to clear up the site.

Disabled Access

There will be disabled toilets on site and some hard cored paths, though most of the main arena will just be grass (albeit mostly flat and cut). Wheelchair users are urged to camp in the Disable Camping as their is a solid path/road to it and it is farily close by. Disabled parking will be reserved at the closest point to the main arena and campsites (Badges/Cards must be shown).

Independent Sound Systems

As Eden is a small family friendly festival with entetainment around the clock we are making a rule of no independent soundsystems anywhere on the festival site.

Dogs

For health and safety reasons we reluctantly have to ask that dogs are not brought on site.

Camping

There will be a few different kinds of camping at Eden:

  • General Camping
  • Family Camping
  • Disabled Camping
  • Artist Camping
  • Campervan and Caravan Camping

General Camping, Disabled Camping and Family Camping are included in the ticket price. Parking fees apply for camper vans and other vehicles.

Fires

Fires are not allowed in the camp site.
There will be controlled communual fires in the main arena for peeps to gather round for some warmth in the chillier hours.

Drugs and anti-social behaviour at Eden

The dealing in or use of illegal drugs is not condoned by Eden Festival. Drug enforcement laws are as applicable on site as any where else in the country. Police officers will be on site and will deal with drug offences in accordance with national guidelines. If you deal in drugs, it is likely that you will be arrested. Neither anti-social nor illegal behaviour will be tolerated and participants will leave themselves liable to eviction from the site.

The Information Hub

The Information Hub will be a well selected collection of information tents from worthy local causes, educating and raising awareness about their issue or plight. This will not be forced but will be there as a voluntary centre to visit and learn a little about issues that locals are attempting to tackle, both locally and internationally. Environmental and sustainability issues having the largest presence in this area.

Site Office

There will be a small tent on site to deal with the issues of lost children, lost property or any issues or queries that the festival goers or staff might have.

First Aid

The festival will provide experienced first aiders on site, accompanied by a stunning ambulance. There will also be Herbal First Aid on site provided by an experienced team who are all trained first aiders and herbalists. This area will have an adjoining space to chill out and recuperate.

Security

Security on site will be on hand to help not hinder your festival experience. Festival Stewards will also be laising with the security. Look for the high vis butlers..!

In the interest of security, the management reserve the right to search vehicles and individuals in the interests of public safety at their own discretion.

Heads Up

Ladies and gentlemen please refrain from bringing glass, weapons, contraband, hidden people or furry friends in your vehicles as Eden festival reserve the right to conduct searches for the afore mentioned on entering the festival site. (by kind permission of Dumfries and Galloway constabulary)

Glass

There will be a 'No Glass' rule at the festival ( in common with other festivals ) - glass bottles and containers will not be allowed on the site.

Around the Site

Around the site you can find an array of weird and wonderful installations, sculptures, stone labyrinths, flags, cairns and other such interests, all designed, sourced out and created by local artists.

Power

Power on site is headed up by Horsebox Renewables and is going to be an innovative direction for festivaling in Scotland. This will be achieved through bringing together several different solar and wind powered operators/businesses to harness their capabilities and help power the festival through the wind and the sun. The Festival will however, be making a very large effort to reduce carbon emissions and power usage wherever possible. Any emissions that we cannot avoid will be calculated by ourselves and the Crichton Carbon Centre and then compensated locally within the Dumfries and Galloway. The Eden Festival will not just be calculating the phase 1 and phase 2 emissions from the festival as is commonly practiced, but will also be calculating the phase 3 emissions (those from festival go-ers in getting to and from the event/business). Tribe of Galloway (the organising body) and Eden Festival are registered as Carbon Smart.

Waste Management

We have set up our own team for on site waste management. Everything that can be recycled will be recycled, at source, and then taken to a centre for recycling. Bags will be issued for general waste and recycleable waste respectively and will be sorted out of eyesight. The various different recycling bins and waste bins will be placed all over the site and emptied on a regular basis. Regular site sweeps will also be carried out to make sure all waste is litter picked and does not become harmful to the festival go-er or the wildlife.

Family Friendly

The Festival will be setting itself up as a festival for all the family. We will be putting on activities for all ages and actively promoting participation through workshops, the kids tent, processions and our participation section of the website. We will also be encouraging families through our pricing scheme. This means that children 12 and under can come free of charge.

Local Input and Sustainability

The festival will, in large, be organised, managed, crafted, painted, sculpted, performed, arranged, maintained and benefited by the people of Dumfries and Galloway who offer a wealth of talent but rarely get a chance to exhibit it on a larger stage due to the lack of people, resources, money and activity in the area. We here at Eden firmly believe this festival will be a big driver in the promotion, skills and attributes of the local participants in the area and hope that the ripples produced from the festival can boost arts, performance, management, produce and skills within the area for years to come. By the people, for the people, and beyond………
